Pyrography Wood Burning - Rabbit with Long Black Fur - pyrography tutorial
In this pyrography wood burning tutorial episode, I will explain how to create the rabbit with long black fur. I do want to mention that with the longer fur, all I do is burn wide lines or bands of color. Each wide line presents a number of individual hairs. The wide lines vary in color. The color variation provides the texture and shape of the hair.
On my website, I have a blog that covers the basics of this artwork. The blog also has a photo of the image I used. Here's a link to that blog: wp.me/p8j0lZ-8lZ

    Hi Brenda. Thank you for your time in doing this video. I've done alot of watercolor painting but always on 100%cotton paper. I love how the watercolor spreads. I've never used the watercolor grounds. Was wondering if you could just wet the board with water just like the paper and then drop the watercolor in and allow it to naturally spread and mix. I saw were you applied the paint directly to the board and it absorbed like a stain but wondering if water were applied first if it would keep the paint from immediately staining the wood. Looking forward to experimenting with this. I hate all the the extra process and cost with adding the grounds. Again thank you for your time Jill C. Huachuca Arizona

      Hi Jill, great question / idea. One, I must admit, that I had not thought of. After I finish my outdoor yard projects, I'll see about testing this out. I will either make a shorts video or write a community post on my findings. Who knows, I might even do both. :)

      Thank you for watching, and taking the time to leave a nice comment. I'm happy to know that the video was helpful. I personally like to experiment with pyrography and ways to achieve different effects. To that point I did try using a scorch marker. If you're not aware, scorch markers allow you to draw designs on wood and then use heat to reveal the design. Maybe I demoed one in this video...it's been to long and I don't remember. I do have a product review video for a scorch marker. Spoiler alert - I would recommend using a baking soda solution instead. That is covered in the video. Hi Benda, Would love to see another video on the burning of water, with the water up close rather than in the background. I am currently working on a close up of a loon, with it's reflection in the water, which is why I am searching for examples. The method you demonstrate for the water in distance may work, but the foreground requires long rippling and broader strokes. Just an idea for a future video. Thanks for being such a great resource!

    • @PyrographyMadeEasy
      @PyrographyMadeEasy 2 месяца назад

      Hi Lorraine, I might have a video that may help you. The project is a Northern Shoveler duck. It's not a complete project tutorial. Instead it covers some of the more "interesting" aspects of the project. One of those aspects is the reflection in the water. The technique is very different from the distant water in the mountain lake tutorial. Ugg...that was my first tutorial I every did, and I just cringe when I see snippets of it. Back to the point. Here's a link to the N. Shoveler duck tutorial: ruclips.net/video/PpLmcMF2Oy0/видео.html If that doesn't help let me know. I'll add 'reflected water' to the list of future demos. Just be aware that I'm very slow about getting to the demos. It doesn't help that I'm on a bit of a summer break. :)

    Fantastic. I recently started pyrography, a natural consequence of my passion towards do it yourself. I have a question about the colors: I really like the soft "pencil" colors .... are there more suitable colors to pyrography? Can I be of school degree colors or is it better to use a professional degree? Thank you very much, I have a bad English I hope you understand!

    • @PyrographyMadeEasy
      @PyrographyMadeEasy 3 месяца назад

      Welcome to the exciting artform of pyrography! I hope you'll love it as much as I do. I'm not very good with adding color, but here's my thoughts on the matter. Watercolor is the best for subtle translucent color. Colored Pencils can be subtle, but if too much is applied it will cover up the pyrography. The concern with any color medium is how lightfast is it. Colors that have a high lightfast rating won't fade like colors with low lightfast ratings. If I'm doing commissioned artwork, I make sure to use colors with high ratings. The rest of the time I use whatever color I want. :) I hope that helps.

    • @Demymaker

      @@PyrographyMadeEasy @PyrographyMadeEasy Thank you so much...I'm loving it..I also don't really like the color on the porography, but looking at the video on the bunch of grapes I would say that only in certain cases it could be interesting but not excessively colourful, just a light touch. I don't like very bright colors on pyrographs.... I see "oil" pencil colors and "water-dilutable" pencil colors... I think the latter are less resistant to cleaning, right? Which one do you recommend for a matte look (similar to your work with grapes)?

    • @PyrographyMadeEasy
      @PyrographyMadeEasy 3 месяца назад

      I think the water dilutable pencils would provide a softer color. I haven't ever used that type of color pencil, so I'm not 100% sure on this. Try a test piece and see what you think.

    Hi Brenda, I'm new to your channel but I shall definitely be checking out more of your videos as I really want to get into pyrography. I am a hobbyist artist and I love to draw fantasy inspired creatures & characters and of course... Dragons feature VERY heavily in my artwork!! I've had the idea to try and draw a dragon design onto a bed headboard, something different. I will need to start small first and try and get a feel of the heat tool and different sized tips etc. And can I just say Brenda, the fact that you redid the drawing just so you could film it for us....Wow that is dedication, WELL DONE YOU!!! Thankyou once again for a great video. One question Brenda, your finished dragon looks amazing but is it possible to stain the wood after you've burned on the design? Hope you're enjoying your weekend, look forward to seeing more of your videos, Lots of Love & Best Wishes from your cousins across the pond UK England ❤❤

    • @PyrographyMadeEasy
      @PyrographyMadeEasy 3 месяца назад

      Hello! I personally think that pyrography is one of the best hobbies to take up. Granted, I might be a bit biased. :) Yes, you can stain the wood after you've burned the design. BEFORE you do, I highly recommend doing a test piece. Depending on the type of burning and the stain, you might lose some detail of your artwork. Make sure to do the test piece using the same type of wood that your project will have. Good luck and I hope you come to love pyrography as much as I do!

      That depends on how thick or heavy the tin foil is. Valarie of Drawing with Fire tried making a stencil / shield using the thin tin foil that you use for baking. It was too flimsy and wouldn't stay in place. I think she ended up using disposable pie tins.

Have you ever burned a night sky, with stars and cosmic clouds / nebula/ mist / space dust, basically the Milky Way? I would love to see a tutorial as I am struggling making space and clouds look as organic as trees... 😆

      Hello Iona, I have no. I know that Valarie of Drawing with Fire has done a space scene. I will add it to my list of future demos. Just keep in mind that I can't promise when I will get to it. As I ponder this, I would tread the cosmic clouds as clouds or mist. The denser the clouds, the lighter in color, so less burning. I have done a video on mist. I can't promise it will help, but in theory it won't hurt. :) Here's a link to the misty lake tutorial video: ruclips.net/video/Qh0zv3kfbLg/видео.html
